The Killer Bunnies capture their first league title. Despite giving away an early two goal lead, the Killer Bunnies began their rally with a mere 8 minutes left in the game. This is a game that had everything...controversy, injury, raw effort and a great ending. The Killer Bunny faithful were given a real treat. Seeing the game slipping out of reach, Capt. Jamey McGinnis inspired his troops with a delightful speech. McGinnis was quoted after the game "We hugged a little and cried a little. It helped us all." On a rebound from Jeremy Masseth, McGinnis opened the scoring at the 12 minute mark of the Third. Two Minutes later the Weinbrenner, Norris, Gray line combined for a goal to even the score. This is a line that has performed solidly all season long. With 1:41 left to go Masseth got to a loose puck off of a McGinnis rebound to bury the game winner. He would consequently suffer knee damage on the play. With 15 seconds left, Larry Norris put the last nail in the coffin with an empty netter, unassisted. The Killer Bunnies capture the ISC cup for the first time in their history.
The Killer Bunnies unbeaten streak continues. With rookie sensation Brian Carragher out of the line-up with what team doctors said was a "plumbing problem," the Killer Bunnies defense stepped up to fill the gap. Mike Dorn, the "Jack Lambert of the ISCHL" found a powerful touch from the point with two blasts that were tipped in for goals. Paul Mayer, Tom McDonnell and Jeff Hupp added to the assault. Mike Fink had a goal as well as Mark Weinbrenner. Bill Rubosky stood tall in the net acting almost as a sixth skater with his puck handling. The Killer Bunnies are off to their best start in franchise history and are picked by the Hockey News, Hockey Digest, and ESPN analyst Barry Melrose to repeat as league champions at the mid-season point. Melrose was quoted as saying "This team is getting goals from everybody. The only guy not popping in one or two a game is Rubosky, and I wouldn't put it past him."
The Bunnies bounce back with a victory over the dirtiest team in the league Jay's Sports Bar. Mark Weinbrenner and Jamey Mcginniss both scored two goals. Jay's tried a comback near the end of the game but fell short giving the Bunnies a 4-3 win.
The Bunnies hop was missing tonight as they lose a close game to Oregon Grill. Paul Swartz led off the scoring with a hard slap shot in the second period. Oregon Grill managed to score 3 goals befor the Bunnies could register another goal late in the 3rd period making the final score 2-3.
The Bunnies register the first win of the season by thumping Cuddy Sports 7 - 2. The game started with a defensive struggle with only 1 goal scored in the 1st period by Cuddy Sports giving them a 1 - 0 lead. The Bunnies soon tied the game in the second period with a strong wrist shot, just over the blue line by Ed Korber. Jamey McGinniss put the Bunnies in the Lead by scoring 2 quick goals. The rout is on as Mark Weinbrenner, Jamey McGinniss and Mark Weinbrenner again shoot for 3 more Bunny goals. During this scoring bonanza Cuddy Sports added one more goal to bring the score to 6 - 2. The final goal of the evening was scored by John Rush making the score 7 - 2.
A heart breaking game was played to a sellout crowd of 23 fans. Skip's Auto took a 2 goal lead early into the 1st period dominated by number 73. The crowd was quiet until Mark Weinbrenner raced to the Goal on a break away to score the first goal of the season for the Killer Bunnies. Early in the second period Mark Weinbrenner scored his second goal to tie the game at 2-2. Skip's came roaring back with their 3rd goal giving them a 3-2 lead. You guessed it, Mark Weinbrenner on another break away scores his 3rd goal of the game tieing the game at 3-3. Skip's won't die as they score again to take the lead at 4-3. The Bunnies would not go down without a fight as Mark Dicello scores his first goal of the season tieing the game at 4-4. With only seconds left in the game number 73 scored his his 3rd goal of the game giving Skip's Auto a 5-4 win.
