2/5/00 KORBER HOLDOUT CONTINUES. Veteran defenseman Ed Korber continues his holdout with no quick end in site. A spokesman for Killer Bunnies management is quoted as saying "Their side is being completely unreasonable(Korber and agent Marianna who is also his wife). We don't know what they want if they won't sit down to negotiate. The press never makes this situation look good. Look at the Primeau and Nedved instances." Korber has been a mainstay for years with the Bunnies providing stability to their blueline and unparalleled veteran leadership. His holdout has lasted through all of training camp and 1/10th of the way through the season.
2/5/00 MASSETH RETURN NOTED. Scoring sensation Jeremy Masseth is slated to return in 2 to 3 weeks recovering from a torn quadracep muscle. This injury is related to the Championship game from last season. Masseth rehabilitated his knee to prevent surgery in the off season. Killer Bunnies medical staff members are optimistic that Masseth's performance won't be affected due to the injury.
2/9/00 KORBER INKS DEAL, RETURNS, IS INJURED. Ed Korber ended his holdout, signing a deal and playing the same day. All would not end well as Korber is injured and will be further evaluated after an MRI on his knee.
2/16/00 GRAY NEGOTIATIONS POSPONED. Agents representing Ross Gray have decided to postpone renegotiating his contract until season's end. Gray who is in the last year of his contract was reportedly made a generous offer from the team. Representatives for Gray are reported as saying "We want a kajillion dollars." Rumors have surfaced recently that see Gray headed to Chicago at season's end. If that happens, the Killer Bunnies would receive nothing in return, since Gray would be an unrestricted free agent.
2/27/00 INJURY REPORT Jeremy Masseth and Jamey McGinnis are removed from Game to Game status and given full clearance to play. Ed Korber was diagnosed with a crushed "Bursa" sack. In order to keep him elgible for the playoffs, the team will not place him on injured reserve, but list him as day to day.
4/16/00 TEAM LOSES GRAY TO FREE AGENCY. The Killer Bunnies lose their best two-way player as Ross Gray signs with Chicago. He was a favorite of fans and teammates alike. The Team receives nothing in return since Gray was an unrestricted free-agent.
6/10/00 RUMOURS SURFACE IN THE BIG APPLE. With Kevin Lowe remaining in Edmonton to become their GM, Jamey McGinnis is denying rumours that he will retire to coach the New York Rangers joining Glen Sather, their new GM. Sather could not be reached for comment.
6/15/00 KILLER BUNNIES TO UNVEIL ALTERNATE UNIFORMS The Killer Bunnies will begin wearing an alternate "Third" uniform. The jerseys which will be in a new team color, Purple, will be trimmed in black and silver. They will feature a large silver tie down collar above the traditional team crest.
